Born on May 25, 1998, Pennsylvania. Deja attends Muhlenberg High School School in Temple, PA. Deja started singing at the age of three.
Deja Ellison first hit the stage when she was only six years old performing at a dance recital. Ever since, she has felt comfortable singing, dancing, and acting in front of a crowd.
At the age of eight Deja brought home a victory at the world famous Apollo Theater in Harlem. At nine, Deja brought home another victory for the state of Pennsylvania as the winner of Miss Sunburst USA. Deja represented PA at the national Sunburst Pageant where she earned Best Talent in her age group. At age of eleven Deja was invited to sing with the prestigious Harlem Boys and Girls Choir. This talented young lady has also performed the National Anthem at the Reading Phillies, The Reading Express, Reading High School, and the Puerto Rican Heritage Festival.
In 2011, Deja recorded her first song, “Your Show” written and produced by By Bynee Fatah. “Your Show” made it on the Coast to Coast Mix Tape Vol. 185. That same year Deja opened up for Reggae artist Serani.
In 2012, Warmdaddy’s in Philadelphia, PA welcomed Deja, and in 2013 she was a special guest performing with The Groovemaster’s alongside the gifted musician and Grammy award winner, Benny Sims.
Deja enjoys making her audience feel good, and that’s exactly what she did when she was invited to sing at radio personality Tiffany Bacon’s First Annual Dream Birthday Party at Elana’s Soul in Philadelphia, PA. Bacon was so impressed that she gave Deja a scholarship to help further her singing career.
During the summer of 2013, Deja shared the stage with Greg Nice, Special Ed and many more at Brooklyn Bowl. She very busy that year and was so excited to have the opportunity to open up for Styles P and Uncle Murder at Club Griffin in NYC during a fundraiser for In Arms Reach Esteban Serrano of Fuse TV. Deja also sang a tribute to Lauryn Hill at the Video Music Box 30th Celebration, “All Hail The Queen”.
Deja is currently taking vocal and guitar lessons, she is able to study guitar through a scholarship from the Reading Music Foundation. Deja works very hard and enjoys the opportunities she has to meet new people. She was recently interviewed by WGIV Radio in Charlotte, NC as well as WEEU Radio in Reading, PA.
A highly motivated teenager, on top of cheerleading and basketball, Deja understands that in order to make it big in the music industry it requires dedication, hard work, practice and a good work ethic. In addition to all that she already does, Deja is also in the process of establishing the Deja Ellison Foundation to help youth in her community.
Deja is inspired by Beyonce, Aaliyah, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Patti Labelle, Diana Ross and Etta James, and is currently working on her EP that will be released in 2016.
